"At once patriotic, grief-stricken, and hopeful, many of these terse, roadside expressions... are juxtaposed with incongruous commercial messages." - The Boston Globea decade ago i was exploring digital photography out of a south end loft. one gorgeous september day, i was catching up on early morning emails, and my sister rang from brooklyn, saying "turn on the tv...." the rest is history, and my personal response involved a digital point-n-shoot, a lot of driving, and documenting countless marquis signs that struck a chord. ed broms composed an original piece for the online project, 'god bless america: reading the signs'. this blog post is a small ode to a large event that shaped the way america stands, and what it stands for. god bless america, home to so many.
