WBUR gala

January 30, 2013

we know wbur probably reported on this earlier (as it took place last year) but here we go anyway:  how does it feel to hobnob with the likes of tom ashbrook, nina totenberg, robin young & click and clack? well, for the npr geeks at liz linder photography, it feels pretty darn good! for the third year in a row our studio was asked to document the extravaganza, and this year’s gala was bigger than ever.  mary flatley, our esteemed photographer covered all the excitement as wbur honored the 35th anniversary (and retirement) of the beloved show, car talk.  special thanks to our friends at altieri events for once again throwing one heck of a party.

sleep on it

November 14, 2012

a top-secret, breakthrough new product from a big-name maker of sleep systems… curious yet?  we can’t say much about it other than this: we loved working with our friends over at an unnamed creative agency, and can’t wait for this new innovation to hit the market!

the boston conservatory

September 12, 2012

the boston conservatory is an old friend, and we love to support their mission and their students.  that’s why we are so pleased with a new trio of videos we produced for the admissions department.   take a look and see what makes BoCo so great!  hint: it’s the people…

heart gallery

July 6, 2012

the heart gallery is a traveling photographic and audio exhibit created to find forever families for children in foster care. many of these children are considered ‘hard to place’ due to being an older child, a teen or being part of a sibling group. we’ve been shooting for MARE (the local chapter) since it started close to a decade ago. the shoots are consistently among the most heartfelt assignments that the studio takes on. this year we were also lucky to shoot david & glenn (of the incredible sweet tooth bakery) and their son joshua – a MARE success story.  shots by liz linder and mary flatley.

email as we know it

February 21, 2012

we were recently commissioned by v.a. shiva to create an image that stands out and communicates his story.  for those of you in the dark, shiva is famous – and perhaps infamous – for inventing email as we know it.   and this august 30th, email as we know it is celebrating it’s 30th birthday, according to US copyright issue.  set your calendars to send a card or birthday greeting through… that’s right… email.

lauren harkness

February 21, 2012

a great piece of jewelry completes an outfit, and can be a token of many things, including admiration and longing.  lauren harkness recently invested in her first big catalogue shoot with us in miami.   we moved through setups of her new collections effortlessly thanks to the styling and savvy of rising star model-on-the-side kristin burnett.  and for the record, shooting lauren’s work is almost as much fun as wearing it!

wbur

January 6, 2012

our studio shot the wbur gala in boston again this year, thanks to our friends at altieri events.  tag team duo rob lorino and bethany krevat enjoyed capturing the luminaries they listen to in the studio, and matching faces to voices of some of our favorite npr personalities.

wayne’s world

October 20, 2011

wayne geyer is a copywriter with a mission: to change the way visual thinkers communicate. in his ‘write more good’ workshop in dallas this fall, wayne helped creatives learn to write boring headlines, and then make them better, along with other valuable skills such as learning to solve communication first, then design. my one regret was that i missed day two, where i could have captured participants learning to distill any creative challenge to five words (or less). five is indeed my favorite number, but i had to catch a flight back to boston for an assignment. not to worry, we are working with wayne on our own boring headlines – stay tuned!

swoon

September 22, 2011

our studio simply swoons over callie curry (there, we said it; so shoot us) and we were thrilled when louis vuitton invited us to capture the artist’s work and conversation at an intimate gathering. “anthropocene extinction” is made of precisely handcut paper with trails of woven sculptural elements that lead to a 400lb bamboo structure in the ICA’s glass elevator shaft.  and, it’s much more than that; to find out more about this delicate eco-system, please visit the exhibit weblink and scroll down for a video of her process.

drama at large

August 18, 2011

this year we collaborated with actor’s shakespeare project around a unique intersection of drama, language, age, and youth at risk.  ASP has a way of bringing shakespeare to the masses, including those who don’t have the freedom or mobility to attend a performance.  we created a bare stage upon which simple props, words, and gestures brought personal dramas expressed in an unusual format.  there were minimal rules:  keep the players anonymous, use one prop, choose one word, and offer one gesture.  and in the little downtime we had, the studio got involved, too – liz linder image courtesy rob lorino; rob lorino image courtesy liz linder.
