fresh back from edinburgh, scotland; liz spent a long weekend chronicling a multi-faceted affair amidst cobblestone streets, art, architecture, pipers piping, swans snipping, and dancers spinning. it was a warm occasion that spanned the city; from the royal botanical gardens to a savory banquet at chez jules, with two live musical acts, two triple-layer cakes, lighthearted festivities, and a very sweet ending.
we like to think we have good karma. in the fall of ‘09 we turned down martha stewart (yes, THE Martha stewart). when the magazine asked to feature a wedding we shot in their fine pages, we turned them down, having already agreeing to publish the wedding in a smaller, local publication.
so, we were thrilled to find that we had two images published this month in two top magazines in their respective fields, martha stewart weddings and photo district news. check out the spreads below and see the full post featuring the sparkler image here.
what better way to spice up the winter doldrums than to throw a sweet and spicy soiree for – and with – our favorite vendors.
genevieve fleure (designer, artist and illustrator specializing in branding & custom invitations) was the master-mind behind the invitations which featured a cookie resting on a bed of hot peppers. la morra offered an array of apps from tuscan meatballs to spiced nuts, and featured a blood orange martini (with a little help from their friends at wine gallery select imports). be our guest provided pink & blue stemmed glasses to complement the spirit of the occasion. dj corin ashley of murray hill talent set the tone of the evening, and the hot florals were done by andrew anderson of ilex designs. whit wales, aka smart, stealthy cinematographer, captured the evening and made our studio look larger than life on the small screen.
here’s a big shout out to our contributing vendors and to our friends that made the night oh so sweet; thank you for warming up a cool evening in the village! love to all of you from all of us at the studio! xxoommmmm…
when one of our clients needed a special gift for a significant anniversary, we created what the studio fondly calls ‘the book of love’. crafted through a series of meetings (that involved mail-bags of love letters from the 1980’s) we celebrated the pen, the paper and the courtship. speaking of love, we loved this project, the client & the book itself.
associate photographer mary flatley loved shooting her good friends heather & eric – we especially love the way heather made sure her father was with her on her big day every step of the way.
our gals at twist events make georgia brooks’ bat mitzvah party pop with color at the estate boston. associate photographer wendy tam & second shooter bethany krevat made an amazing photographic team – you go girls!
good comfort food, amazing music & a unique sock monkey cake (courtesy of clementine cuisine) reflect jon & christine’s creative, fun & utterly cool spirit. and if jon provided the tunes (session americana), christine, the artist that she is, raised the bar in making the floral arrangements… out of paper. a toast to the union of two great creative forces!
jen & richard wanted liz to capture the “ridiculous joy” of their day. this sweet image of the couple kissing in the back of an antique car does just that.
