talking in pictures

January 10, 2013

i’ve been friends with rich griswold long before we had smartphones, but our relationship took a turn once we started talking on these things… using images and nothing else.  our smart-ass comebacks, dialogues and conversation clusters are now on display at the narrows center for the arts through the end of the month.  we hope you’ll join us for a closing reception in the afternoon on february 3rd, between 1&4pm.

drumlin

August 1, 2012

drumlin farm has a volunteer program that put our studio to work weeding the cabbage crops and harvesting red gold potatoes earlier this week.  our guides, calyb & alex enjoyed the enthusiasm our team brought, perhaps not fully appreciating how digging in the field when the sun is out and the soil is soft is a welcome break from day-to-day desk-work.   thanks to the stellar team here at liz linder photography; mary flatley, anna saraceno, rob lorino, bethany krevat and, of course the iphone camera; all y’all rock.  xxoo liz

god bless america

September 8, 2011

“At once patriotic, grief-stricken, and hopeful, many of these terse, roadside expressions… are juxtaposed with incongruous commercial messages.” – The Boston Globe

a decade ago i was exploring digital photography out of a south end loft.  one gorgeous september day, i was catching up on early morning emails, and my sister rang from brooklyn, saying “turn on the tv….”  the rest is history, and my personal response involved a digital point-n-shoot, a lot of driving, and documenting countless marquis signs that struck a chord.  ed broms composed an original piece for the online project, ‘god bless america: reading the signs’.  this blog post is a small ode to a large event that shaped the way america stands, and what it stands for.  god bless america, home to so many.

ghost in the house

August 3, 2011

two weeks ago, i had the pleasure of shooting a house in a heat-wave in akron, ohio. this was the childhood home of songwriter dave crossland, and it had just been sold and emptied by his father after the better part of a lifetime.  images inspire words, and words inspire images.  the result is a visual and lyrical montage, a ghost from the patina of a more innocent time, and the homes i knew as a child.

refresh

April 29, 2011

LOHAS stands for ‘lifestyles of health and sustainability’. last week, we created a unique promotional piece to reflect the sensibilities of the LOHAS market – and followed up at a their earth day event in lower manhattan. leslie berliant, of blu moon fame – a longtime friend and travel companion – connected us to this sustainable bunch. check out our inspired leave behind, and a few shots of our favorite sponsors; ingeo, nova & bambeco. to learn more about who they are & what they do, click their links in the copy you just read.  ps/ we featured peter himmelman; singer, songwriter, artist & master of the non-sequitur in our promo piece, along with a green bulb.  now that’s refreshing!

studio expedition

March 25, 2011

last week we went around the world without leaving the local area.  through the magic of the green screen, a crew of five, a handful of worldwide wonders and two of the finest studio shooters in town (wink-wink; nudge-nudge), we took ourselves and 120 science-types out of their element and brought them somewhere warmer – or sometimes cooler – than the conference room.  special thanks to aaron shadwell on the lights, bethany krevat and rob lorino on the green screen, and mary flatley, associate photographer around the world and beyond.  and see the difference a little love from our post-production team makes.  signing off…  liz linder of the desert.

the book of love

February 17, 2011

when one of our clients needed a special gift for a significant anniversary, we created what the studio fondly calls ‘the book of love’. crafted through a series of meetings (that involved mail-bags of love letters from the 1980’s) we celebrated the pen, the paper and the courtship.  speaking of love, we loved this project, the client & the book itself.
